At first I was very happy with this product. This allowed me to easily share a monitor between my media server, my "normal" desktop, and my laptop. The automatic switch is great. I don't normally switch between computers, but who *always* wants to use Remote Desktop (or similar) to log in, or worse, swap HDMI cables. I bought it in April but a surprisingly busy summer kept me from installing it until the end of July. It worked great except for some reason one of my El Cheapo Revain HDMI cables didn't like it. It's okay, there are lots of spare parts around. Replaced with another cable and he seemed happy. The wireless remote control is a great feature. In cases where multiple systems are running, there is no need to reach to the back of the console to change outputs, just keep the remote at hand by pressing the button. Unfortunately, after about three months, one day I was using the main output as a second monitor for my laptop and all of a sudden the black screen/image/black screen starts flashing repeatedly. then everything went black. The LED turn signals were fine. I tried switching to the media server manually. no picture. I tried turning the device on and off and turning it off but still couldn't get a picture from any device. I double checked that the cables themselves are ok and they all worked when plugged directly into the monitor from each computer. Unfortunately, there are many reviews describing a similar problem. I suspect that this device is designed for very light shifting. My media server runs 24/7 and I often work from home and need a second monitor for my laptop so it never "sleeps". Advantages: Fast automatic switching. LED displays show all necessary information. The remote control is great. Cons: Died after three months.
