I have found the Govee brand lights to be some of the best and most affordable LED strips on the market. There are more expensive brands (like Phillips or Lifx) but their prices are outrageously high and the lengths tend to be much shorter. Expensive brands don't have enough extra features to make up for these shortcomings. Many other similar, less expensive Govee brands have fewer options or more limited lighting effects. Advantages of stripes: They are bright! They appear brighter than other 5050 bulbs of the same length (32 feet) that I have used. As far as I can tell, this strip doesn't drop in brightness near the ends of the strip, likely due to the higher power supply it's plugged into. It has a fairly long power cord so getting the light up high places is easy. Microphone controls are on the control box, not on the device using the app. Although you probably won't be using it, the control box can be used to turn the device on or off. There is a timer option to turn the light on or off at different times or days. The only limitation of the timer is that it can only be turned on or off; You can't set a timer to flash one day, be solid color the next, and chase the effect the next. Pros of the application: Many settings in the application to choose from. This strip can set a large number of group-addressable color sections throughout the strip, as well as a rainbow/chasing mode. The app is pretty easy to navigate and you'll likely find many different color combinations that you'll love. You may have a setting where the bar changes to volume or music. I found the app to be quite user-friendly in terms of usability and functionality. Like other non-waterproof strips, it can be easily twisted or torn if care is not taken. Duct tape is basic double sided tape, not like thicker mounting tape. It holds up well as it weighs less than a waterproof one, but your surface needs to be perfectly clean and flat or the strip may not stick very well. Due to the nature of all Dreamcolor LEDs like these, you cannot cut this strip or physically connect multiple sets of strips together. It's not a WiFi-based band, instead connecting via Bluetooth meaning you don't need to have a nearby WiFi signal/router for it to work, but your Bluetooth device will typically have a much shorter range than WiFi. This is not a single 32 foot strip, but two separate 16 foot strips connected to a single center control box. Not a big problem, but a longer strip can make installation easier. Since I couldn't find any other Dreamcolor LEDs on the market that come in a single 32" strip, I put it in the neutral section instead of the connector. It has multicolor as well as temperature controlled white. You can control multiple lanes at once, called a scene, but this method has limitations; see below for details. There's no physical remote control, so you'll rely almost entirely on the app. Cons of the strip: no microphone sensitivity adjustment, so results may vary. The control box and power supply are quite large and larger than other brands I've seen. While the larger power supply and control box will likely make the LEDs brighter than other brands, not being able to hide them will be quite an eyesore, especially if you're using this as indirect lighting in crown moldings. App Cons: Two separate 16-foot lanes cause a small issue with the app. Some of the rainbow effects begin at the center of the two stripes and radiate outward toward each peak. There is currently no setting for a chase effect that starts at one end and moves to the other end of the web. Brightness adjustment is mostly all-encompassing, meaning any change in brightness will affect the entire strip evenly, whether it's a solid color or a rainbow effect. It also means you can't have an "empty" section in templates or addressable sections. I'd like an option where you can have a moving bright section of color that diffuses to a dimmer setting and then "turns off" completely. Some transitions include a gradual transition to full strip-off mode, but do not work for individual sections at the same time. Unfortunately, the app doesn't store exact color numbers for future use, making some of the template customization options difficult to replicate. I would like to know the exact ratio of the color levels and be able to enter numbers manually. There is a way to control multiple lanes in a scene at the same time, but with this control you lose ALL tracking and address effects. That means no glowing or iridescent effects. If you want to use segmented or "following" control when using multiple strip sets, you must configure each strip separately. It can be difficult to get 2 sets to track effects at the same time. Other: I don't have Alexa, or a hub, or any other device or software that connects to LED strips, so I'm not sure if this can work with those systems. You must read the item descriptions carefully; Another but similar flick by Govee had some less targeted group options. I found that you had to say "segmented color management" or something to get additional addressable parameters. This particular strip has the following options. Verdict: All strips on the market have some sort of limitation, and while this brand is no different, the pros far outweigh the cons. Although there is room for improvement I am very happy with my purchase.
