I've been wanting to switch to safety razors to save money, they're better for the environment and because I like a closer shave, but I've only tried one brand of blades and they just ripped my face apart. It was very embarrassing until I ordered them and tried wokshad russians or something and now I've switched to safety razors and will always use those russian blades. It's like opening an envelope and being gifted (wrapped like a letter) a nice clean shave with no irritation. I can't speak for everyone and their skin but it was a good mix for me.
