I've recently started cross stitching and bought this thread kit to get started. Considering that a skein costs around 50 cents at Michael's, this set was amazing value. Just know that you get what you pay for. Brightly seasoned. The strands are numbered, but this is not a DMC numbering system. However, as a beginner I was able to match the colors required in the patterns fairly accurately and I'm glad I saved so much money. The quality is quite good: I can separate the cross stitch threads fairly well and there is very little knotting/fraying when sewing. I have since purchased several DMC brand skeins in the colors I wanted and have found that the DMC thread is slightly thinner and silkier than the thread in this kit. It's not a huge difference, but you can tell that the DMC brand is a superior yarn. I'm glad I bought this set and I recommend it to anyone looking to start their flower collection.
