Review on Etch Buddy Photo Etch Bending Fixture by Sasha Hsiao

What were they thinking?!

What were you thinking when you designed this thing with a slit cut across the width of the tool? When you bend a photo-etched piece with it, the razor blade goes into the slot (which is rounded) and eventually achieves the same radius at the sharp bend that this thing is said to be able to make. A radiused bend is NOT a sharp bend! Also, forget it if you have tiny parts, like handlebars on airplane dashboards. This cutout in it chokes on small parts, making use with tiny parts extremely difficult, frustrating, and risky. Photo etch kits aren't cheap, When I tried for the first time today, using it got me a lot more than the 30 day return window. This thing is for a good cause - a $50 paperweight. It's also clearly not made in the USA as all the fittings on it are metric. I didn't have an immediate need when I ordered it, so today when I tried it for the first time I was given a much longer 30 day return window. This thing is for a good cause - a $50 paperweight. Pros
  • 180 degree rotating top plate for long straight bends
Cons
  • Not as thick as other cutters
