Haven't had a fire yet so can't tell you if they work but I LOVE their concept, size and simplicity. My house is old and I know I should probably rewire it, but I'm old and would rather have this money for my retirement. There is an outlet behind my bed which is not sufficient, like mine there are 7 items connected with extension cords. It's a bit embarrassing that there's an extension cord under my bed. I know it sounds weird, but it puts my mind at ease. You will receive 6 small fingertip sized pads. They are self-adhesive with a peelable backing. You just plug them between the holes in the socket. At first I thought they were too wide and overlapped the holes a bit. But when I connected my various devices, they didn't seem to bother at all. I love this concept so much and seeing how frugal they are I have already sent the link to my friends who I know live in old houses too.
