Review on Enhanced Gaming Experience with Xbox 360 250GB Console by Bruce Marable

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent console (at the moment)

UPDATE: 03/20/2015 I changed the HDD to a 3rd party HDD, everything works. Never had a red ring, period or anything. I have never bought a next gen gaming system until recently when I bought this product and wow that was a great idea. Of course, I'm thrilled to be able to play the latest games and everything, but given Microsoft's tendency to mess things up on all the slim predecessors to the XBox 360, I'm certainly a little worried. Although Microsoft claimed that this new console is so devoid of the Red Ring of Death that it can't even DISPLAY red on the console, rumors and even some images have surfaced with a new threat: the Red Dot of Death. Why would a company lie about this? you say me Regardless, the buyer should be careful. I am very happy with this product, don't get me wrong. But if you're looking to buy a 360, know that Microsoft's previous products tended to underperform. I hope that's changed, but who am I to say if that's finally changed? They have a one-year warranty, which is nice. So keep the receipt! I'm not sure if they've extended the warranty yet, but if they have, it's always better to have that insurance. And if you want to avoid every "red death" with the console, try not to overload it too much or too soon. As much as I'd love to play this thing for hours, when I first got it I held back so the console could rest (and because I was nervous it was going to die). And wherever you put your 360, lay it on its side (and don't move it with the disc inside! It'll scratch the drive beyond repair. Google it if you want video proof) and make sure that there is space for ventilation fans at both ends. The thin one runs a lot cooler, yes, but you'll have to do your best to prevent your XBox from overheating due to placement. Overall I like the product, but given Microsoft's past, I'm a little wary. about telling someone 100% to go and buy it. Unless you have insurance. Then you have nothing to lose.
