Excellent image quality at 1080p and smooth 30 fps. It has a good field of view, as well as excellent night vision range and clarity. The software is good too. I tried a cheaper 1080P camera with horrible software that made the camera almost unusable. Panning and tilting are smooth and precise, and the speed can be adjusted. You can also set preset positions so you can navigate and click on the home preset to return to its normal position so you don't have to constantly readjust your detection zones. I have a tree in my yard that keeps throwing false alarms on windy days. I can just move it out of the detection area to prevent this. While this camera is meant to be used indoors, mine is mounted upside down outdoors under the eaves by the front door. It replaces the Foscam FI9816P 720P camera which is now ported to cover my back door. The Foscam FI9816P has performed flawlessly outdoors for years all year round, in cold winters, in strong winds that whip rain horizontally and in the heat of summer. (I had to tape off the vents on the bottom of the FI9816P to prevent water getting in. Amcrest doesn't have these vents on the bottom, so you should be fine.) The software allows you to reverse and mirror the image. , so what you see is on the right. Motion detection is excellent, and the utility lets you adjust the sensitivity and detection area to minimize false alarms. Mine is set to send snaps to my email when video motion is detected and also records video to a micro SD card. So I can track anyone driving or passing by, anyone driving to me, delivering packages or when the postman has left something for me or drives by without anything for me. The playback feature in the browser utility works great and makes it easy to watch the recorded clips on the SD card from your PC. The sound quality of the built-in microphone is good and quite sensitive. I've been waiting for a 1080P IP camera to drop below $100 for a while and when this camera went on sale on Revain for $84.99 I bought it! The only downside is that the Amrcest software only works with Amcrest cameras. . So to view my Amcrest camera and my Foscam cameras on the same screen at the same time, I have to use either Blue Iris or Ispy (free and good software). An optical zoom would also be nice. It has a digital zoom that can be useful, but the clarity of the 10x optical zoom makes it a near-perfect camera.
