My dog LOVES light up balls, but he always destroys them very quickly. I decided for one last time to try another brand and bought these balls. Yes, they do smell funny when you first open, but soap and water quickly made that smell go away. He brings this ball everywhere! Outside, inside, to bed, bathroom etc. He's an avid chewer and destroyer of toys and he has not destroyed this ball yet. I dunno if it's because he loves it so much and hasn't ruined it yet, or if it's that durable. It's smaller than a tennis ball, so ideal for smaller dogs. He's about 15 lbs and it's the perfect size. The best thing about this ball compared to others is that it doesn't have a small plastic hole that the battery was put in through and then plugged with a plastic piece. This is how he has destroyed and removed the battery and light from all the other balls I have purchased. That makes me beyond nervous, and I'm very happy that this ball does not have that.
