I was looking for a solution to house my flat screen LCD TV in an old large wooden entertainment center originally designed for large cathode ray tube systems. Most TV stands balance the weight of the TV, so the screen was always pushed into the cabinet a few inches, reducing the viewing angle. At first I was hoping to solve this problem by installing a slide-out tray that would allow me to move the TV in and out of the case, but I didn't like the idea of a moderately heavy TV (from a slightly heavier 2007 Samsung). held by a thin metal pallet and clamps. The setup also lacked the clean, aesthetic lines I was hoping for in my entertainment center. After seeing a friend do it successfully the only way out seemed to be to mount the TV on wall studs behind the built in entertainment center and extend the bracket as far over the box as possible. That's no small feat as my trunk was about 25 inches deep from the front edge to the end of the wooden stand and a couple of inches from there to the posts. This particular Aeon mount was the only one with a consumer price tag. It could have gone past the 27+ inches it took me to clear the case. After cutting a hole in the back of the entertainment center, I found studs on the wall. As expected, it wasn't centered where the TV mount should have been. However, since the stand can move from side to side, I was able to mount it on nearby studs and still center the screen with the entertainment center. The Aeon mount is heavy and extremely durable, making assembly difficult. But the end result is that it feels extremely durable, even with your arms fully extended. With my limited mechanical skills I wasn't able to get the stand perfectly level (this was my second TV mount and both times I was wrong by about half a degree), but since it's a fully pivoting stand with readjustment/correction, The TV looks perfectly flat. The brackets are also so compact that I can hide my subwoofer in the closet. The only negative I can think of is that the frame that actually holds the TV blocks some of my HDMI inputs and requires my hands to push/pull/adjust. Otherwise, it's been a great investment for me and my wife (because now I can stand at my kitchen sink, which is at an extremely acute angle to the TV, and still enjoy watching football while I do the dishes).
