For those who complained that they couldn't get more than 4x magnification, didn't bother raising or lowering the scope relative to the sample to compare the optical magnification to digital 1x to 4x zoom. Watch the attached video to see how I prove them wrong and zoom in on the individual wing scales of a butterfly (which I found outside - no butterflies were harmed in this video). This little thing is amazing! I see this will come in very handy for those involved in micro soldering and repairing circuit boards or scaling small components! I bought it for my son just to get used to it and for training. The ability to take pictures and videos straight to the included memory card is a huge bonus. Although the instructions are a bit lacking and the zoom issue isn't clearly stated, people don't get it, it only takes a few seconds of playing around with it to understand how it works. Watch the video and see what I'm talking about range increase/decrease (optical zoom) versus buttons to change 1x to 4x digital zoom. The wing was not level on the platform so you had to raise/lower it and focus like a normal microscope.
