Review on Black Plantronics Voyager Legend UC Bluetooth Headset - Retail Packaging by Josh Koa

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not bad but expensive for what it is.

Starting from a four year old tiny Samsung device that I bought on sale for $25, I'm not as impressed with the quality of the incoming or outgoing sound as I thought. It's okay, it's not bad, but it's not surprising. Bluetooth range is a little disappointing on PC with a USB dongle, I've connected it to my Galaxy S4 and PC, I can go to the kitchen and outside and it drops the PC. and don't drop your phone. It creaks a bit when listening to streaming music on the phone, but the signal holds. If you are in a car or in a small to medium sized room/office, that's fine. My expectations for Bluetooth might be too high, but the $25+ device that came out years ago with an old Evo 4G phone had just as good a range. I was hoping for more improvements in a few years and lots of dollars. The stand and charging box are very good, the device itself is convenient and quite easy to use. None of the in-ear sizes seem to fit my ear canal unless they are designed to seal. It stays in place with the back over the ear, but it doesn't seal like other smaller headphones I've used. I can't seem to get access to Google Voice Actions easily on my phone, but it could be a phone/Android issue. The presentation/packaging and overall smoothness may actually have contributed to my inordinately high expectations. Battery life is good, it really fulfills my goal of being able to use VOIP software wirelessly, and compared to some other solutions it was pretty cheap. I plan to keep and use it. But I'm not as impressed as I'd hoped, especially for a relatively large device.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Useless features
