So promising, but fatally flawed

The USB-C in this projector is AMAZING. You plug the projector into the wall and then use a single cable to connect your laptop to transmit audio/video and charge the laptop. Exactly what you need (no adapters or bulky HDMI cables to lug around). Unfortunately, this monitor has 2 downsides, one of which is downright fatal if you value image sharpness: (1) The colors/contrast on this projector have been heavily overhauled (presumably for sports and gaming). As a result, you cannot get a high-quality picture when you want a realistic picture. There is a SIGNIFICANT color bar right out of the box. They don't have a built-in mode that allows you to get normal colors. So it seems like they just assume that no user actually wants to accurately reproduce the colors of a photo. After playing around with the various controls on the projector and using the i1Studio calibrator, I was able to get an image in a location that wasn't too bad for viewing photos. For that reason alone, this projector is coming back. If you don't care about realistic images, this isn't for you. (2) The retractable leg below is TERRIBLE. Uncomfortable to slide out, insanely loose/wobbly and too noticeable to be used without books or other height adjustments. Complete rubbish that seriously undermines the perceived quality of the product compared to something like an Epson projector. I'd also like to point out that keystone correction isn't as straightforward as Epson's, but it's easy to set up.

Pros
  • CINEMATIC COLORS: Exclusive color technology offers a wide color gamut for beautiful images in almost any environment
Cons
  • Makes me nervous
