High cost, no Wi-Fi ruins solid offering

I picked this up from Vine because I write and draw artwork and thought it would make it a lot easier to work with the ability to do duplex copies of books to press. for example to produce some test materials for graphic prints. Yes, I know the laser is far from ideal for the art print, but a free printer is a free printer. I also plan to use it for homemade decals and labels that will benefit from line accuracy. First impressions. It's a huge laser printer. It's very hard. Where the hell am I supposed to put this huge heavy laser printer? After this initial thought process, installation is quick and easy. The included instructions are big and bright and easy to follow. Install and connect the supplied toner. Wi-Fi facility. not existent. So here we are in 2016, looking at my little Epson desktop inkjet/scanner. One hundred dollars, there's wifi. Check out the $900 monster that has no Wi-Fi. Are you kidding? That alone is a deal breaker in my opinion. I don't have a network socket in my home office because it's an old house and there is (usually) WiFi everywhere. I will not install a network jack in my home office for a minimally used laser printer. If the printer wasn't free, I'd get something with Wi-Fi. Aside from the lack of Wi-Fi, the feature set is good if you read carefully enough after this reveal. It should be noted that there is Airprint for your Mac OS and mobile printing for your iPhone and Android devices. Most of my work is done on the Surface Pro 3, so I'm SOL unless I want to send my stuff to my iPhone first (which leads us to compression/formatting/compatibility issues). Toner is expensive even for toner. Of course this is "high yield" but most toners at this stage are still 20% less than any cartridge for Lexmark. Overall, the image quality and speed are excellent! This is a reliable, high quality printer from a leading manufacturer in the industry. HOWEVER, the lack of Wi-Fi is a major flaw, and the cost of the toner can make it difficult to maintain. Like I said, I didn't pay for it. If I were looking for a new laser printer, I would seriously check out some of the other models first.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
