I have used these for several months for garden waste (weeds, clippings, leaves) and dirty kitchen compost. Now that NYC is composting all organic materials (even meat and bones!) I can only make compostable bags so I will be buying more even though they are way more expensive than plastic. They can withstand a lot, but are quite thin and cannot withstand branches. I wouldn't use them to store organic material for more than a week, maybe two, because they need to break down. However, they do not break so easily even when wet. Thank God because yesterday I had to leave six sacks out in the rain. Unfortunately, they don't quite fit the two centimeters higher compost heaps, so I have to keep putting them on like socks that don't hold up. high. If only they were about 36 gallons. Why don't the manufacturers talk to each other? arrrgh!
