It's adorable. The elephant itself is soft and plush, with a rounded plastic body that won't tear off or hurt sharp edges if a child falls inside. The battery compartment on the back is recessed, so you need a long, thin, small screwdriver to open it. Mine was twisted very tightly and it wasn't easy to undo. Assembling was much easier. The button at the bottom isn't 100% correct - it has a power button that doesn't fully toggle to either side, but works fine. IF the music is played from the top button, which is very easy to press even for small children, even if it happens randomly, the music plays in several familiar tunes and there is a child laughing in between. I find it a little creepy, but kids don't do that - they love to hear other kids laugh. I got this for a 9 month old and it seems to be just right in a good range - he loves it.
