These are the nicest closed toe sandals. We got them because our son used to complain that he was "too hot" in his shoes. His school allows him to wear them because they are closed. He's been wearing them every day for 4 months! The reason I gave these sandals 3 stars is because the insoles wear out almost immediately. Yes the insoles were leather but it was very thin leather that chipped off. We took the sandals to our local shoemaker and he made the perfect pair of thicker leather insoles which were great. bad so we had the cobbler sew them on neatly which took about 2 minutes. The rubber soles on the bottom wear out. They don't wear out, but become smoother. This is also to be expected after 4 months of exclusive everyday wear by an active 5-year-old. So, all in all: absolutely beautiful sandals. Great leather outside. Pretty good soles. The insoles crumbled immediately, the velcro had to be sewn tighter.
