These paper containers have a "glossy" stripe on the outside. I'm assuming it's either a wax strip or a plastic strip. Lids are tight. Even if you can't see it in the pictures. . . The top of the cover consists of two layers. There are four holes on the bottom/inner layer. There are two holes on the top/outer layer. This is to allow steam to escape but reduce the chance of anything squirting out of the holes. At the current price of over seventy-eight cents a cup. . . they are insanely expensive. Although I don't see where they are made. . . I have to assume they are made in China. If they were made in the USA, I'm sure they would advertise that. Their production in China costs no more than one or two cents.
