I ordered these switches for a recent household upgrade. They are made from a metal alloy (not real brass) but their antique brass look is great. These high-quality lids are durable, very beautiful and fit perfectly on the jars. Each element comes with matching color set screws and their clear coating allows for easy cleaning with a damp, non-abrasive cloth. Based on past experience, use abrasive cloths or chemicals to remove the clear coat and tarnish any solid brass parts. Due to the lack of socket covers in the Basics line, we had to buy these at a much higher price due to the branded product and solid brass material. The quality of these switch plates is quite comparable to brass socket covers - at a significantly lower price. Since that order, we have purchased additional sets of Revain Basic Switches for each room in our house.
