Video Comparison: MK470 and MK235 – the Quietest Keyboard and Mouse Combo?

My previous keyboard was a Logitech K520 + M310 mouse which has always worked well for me. Keyboard and mouse make standard key and mouse sounds. Nothing unusual. Due to more conference/video calls, the K520 keyboard caused noise issues when recording call notes. While I can turn my sound off, it's not optimal if you're one of the main people trying to take notes and be smooth. After searching for "silent or quiet keyboards" I ordered the MK470 and MK235 keyboard/mouse combo sets. While it's not technically "quiet," the MK470 is the quieter keyboard in between, and a lot quieter than the original keyboard and mouse combo. In the attached video, I've tried to make key tones and mouse clicks as consistent and realistic as possible. This is all subjective and I'm just trying to provide a useful overview for those who may have the same needs. Also, as an extra measure to reduce keystroke noise, I bought an inexpensive wireless headset to move the mic away from the keyboard rather than the other way around. is on the cable of my headphones. Switching to the headset itself can perhaps reduce the keyboard noise heard during calls, but I have co-workers who use the K520 in meetings with their webcam + microphones mounted on top of the monitor and the button noise is quite intense . Again, there are many factors to consider regarding microphone quality etc. Overall I like the MK470. This is an abbreviated full keyboard that prints like a laptop keyboard. The keys are quieter than most, and I've confirmed that I can type in meetings without interference. The only short-term issue for me is getting used to the forward delete key placement, which differs from the full-size extended keyboard layout. I will recommend this keyboard to my colleagues who also need to type during the conversation. Good luck with our new normal and I hope this has been helpful.
