This remote can be customized using My Harmony desktop software. My first problem was easily solved - the remote wouldn't stay on, and replacing the batteries that came with it with new batteries from my own supply solved the problem. It's worth taking the time to use the help function on the remote control, and if all of your components don't work then just switch back to the desktop software and you'll find more options. I had to re-sync the remote with the software several times after answering new and more specific questions from the software. I synced the remote with my small Vizio smart TV, Sony remote and Cisco cable box. It's great to have one remote control for all functions - DVR, Cable TV, Smart TV functions, Netflix, Prime, etc.
