They do what they were designed to do
Okay, not 100% landing, but close enough. I personally don't think they fit that well, but they do the job. There really is no "extra" part either. "Additional" - for the middle cup holder between the front seats. If you ride without a center divider, use a larger one. If you usually ride a medium splitter, use a shorter one. You can use a longer one with a center divider, but then it won't snap into place as intended. (see photo)
