Worthwhile for luminaires close to the ceiling

Where to start? I'll start with the end: the lamp is up and looking AMAZING. Absolutely brings class to our bedroom. I like it. But here's the thing: It really isn't hard to put together. General. The instructions are basically useless. To assemble this bad boy: 1) Lay everything out in front of you. Take a wrench, Phillips screwdriver, tape, flashlight or headlamp and you will have to buy the bulbs separately (go to hardware store as regular grocery stores don't have them). Go for 40 watt lightbulbs or less because there are 8 of them. I have 40 watt bulbs, they don't glare but bright enough. Ideal for a basement bedroom. 2) Unscrew the small screws on the side of the base. Take out the piece of silver. Save it for later. DO NOT LOSE THESE SMALL SCREWS. 3) Take your hands (should be 8) and attach them to the base. The washer and nut go into the bottom of the bracket. Route the wires so that they become a mess on the underside of the light fixture (the side that rests against the ceiling). The hands are not labeled correctly. For me, B and D were swapped, but otherwise everything went well. Look at the picture and just play around with them until they look like the picture. Tighten these nuts with an adjustable wrench. 4) Now take all your white wires (8) and twist them together as well as the wire that comes with the kit. In total this is 9 wires twisted together (8 from 8 arms, plus one from the bracket). Put a cap on it and wrap it with electrical tape, just in case. 5) Repeat step 4 with the black wires. 6) Prepare a child or friend with a flashlight. Maybe a head light. Some. You must see. DISCONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY WHERE YOU WILL INSTALL IT. Remove the old lamp. Place the silver piece on the ceiling with the ceiling wires hanging down. There should be 3 ground wires: a black, white, and copper ground wire. Just let these puppies hang out until you're ready for them. 7) Take the silver base piece from step 2 and screw it FIRMLY to the ceiling with the wires hanging down. 8) Twist white to white, black to black and the copper earth that came with the light fixture with the copper earth hanging from the ceiling. You need a friend to hold the lamp while you do this. No work for one person 9) Now everything is connected to the ceiling, you screw back the screws you DID NOT COMPLETELY LOST into the sides of the base holding the whole shabang to the ceiling 10) Screw in the lightbulbs. Turn on the power. Admire your beautiful lamp. Total installation time: about half an hour. Degree of difficulty: approx. 2 out of 5 stars. How impressive is that to humans? Easily 4 out of 5 stars.
