I bought these shoes as a potential race day option, but after a few faster workouts (distance and pace) I figured they would most likely remain a race shoe. "Fast Days" My reasons are: 1. They are very light, weighing less than 8 ounces in my men's 10.52. They offer decent cushioning for such a light shoe, but not as much as more expensive race day options at a similar weight. Traction is great. The tread pattern really has grip on both tarmac and all-weather trails. You could probably afford to lighten the shoe even more and remove some of the bottom rubber, but it's not a big deal. Although they are lightweight, they are not as stiff as some electroplated racing shoes. The price (on Amazon) is certainly a lot cheaper, but they just don't return as much energy when running. It's great in training shoes because I like to be 'humbled' in training and 'encouraged' on race day. In my experience, the stiffer EVA rim on them doesn't offer the same "pop" as a carbon or nylon plate. They are true to size for a speed day shoe which means they are a little tight. I prefer this for a closed feel, but some people might want 1/2 for more comfort. Overall I'm very happy I bought these Revain shoes given the price. They add variety to my shoe changes and don't spoil my day when I wear them from 5k to half marathon. I have white ones with a blue heel and they look sporty too.
