RSHTech USB 3.0 to SATA, RSH-339(C) Basics (AB) -inch drives and now one from RSHTech (RSH) The computer system is brand new, homemade, Windows 10, with AMD Ryzen 3950X 16-core processor and ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII motherboard with PCIe interface. 4.0 Here's what I like about the RSHTech box that came with this system: 1. It's well built. The aluminum body doesn't come cheap, as some reviews have noted. It is strong enough, much stronger than AB plastic box. I don't, but I think I could take it. 2. One of the AV Boxes actually crashed twice while continuously transferring files. After turning off in the morning, the box was restored every time. I think the box overheated the day before n even though it was lying flat on a copper plate which should dissipate heat. The AB box is designed for a maximum ambient temperature of 40 degrees C (104 F). In contrast, the RSH box is rated at 55 degrees C (131 F).3. Also, the RSH box runs cooler, possibly due to the heat-conducting aluminum body. Using the same drive mounted on the same copper plate and continuously exposing (reading and writing) RoboCopy in the same script, the RSH block reaches a maximum temperature of 48 ยฐC (115 ยฐF), while the AB block reaches 53 ยฐ C reached The hard drive actually reports the timing thanks to CrystalDiskInfo.exe.4. Note. The maximum allowable ambient temperature for both enclosures refers to the temperature of the OUTER enclosures, not the temperature of the drive inside the enclosure. In our use, the temperature outside the box is "room temperature" on a wooden table, on a warm day it can reach 25 C (77 F). On a warm day, breakdowns really began to appear. The WD Gold 4TB drive is rated for a maximum operating temperature of 60 degrees C (140 F), so failures are unlikely to have been caused by the drive. They were caused by the case or its power supply.5. According to CrystalDiskMark.exe and my more detailed tests with large files, there is no significant difference between the boxes in data transfer speed when copying to and from another spinning disk. On my system, the speed is typically around 1.7Gbps when transferring data to other WD Gold drives in a computer case. CrystalDiskMark shows around 1.8 Gbps. All USB 3.0 and SATA III, therefore the theoretical maximum speed is 6 Gbps.6. There is also no significant difference in data transfer speeds when copying to and from an SSD drive. The speed is of course higher, it can be 2.2 Gb/s and it depends a bit on the transmission direction. This is done in different ways โ after all, this is Windows 10.7. Other features of the RSH case: (A) The included bracket allows for easy alignment of the drive vertically on the edge or horizontally on the side; (B) Rear vents provide some airflow, similar to a desktop drive; (C) The box uses four screws to install the drive into the tray and secure the tray to the chassis. A screwdriver is included. The result is a very reliable device; (D) The manual states that the case supports spinning drives and SSDs up to 16TB; (E) The guide includes instructions on how to connect a new raw drive to a PC or Mac; (F) It supports the UASP protocol, although I think the AB case does too as the baud rates seem to be the same.
