Far exceeded my expectations

To be honest, I'm not an IT pro, but I use laptops, tablets and desktops every day in my personal and work life. This Chromebook far exceeded my expectations. This is my first experience with a Chromebook. I had about a week to get to grips with the device. I have an Alienware gaming laptop, but for now I only use it for gaming purposes. In my opinion, this Chromebook is fast. The speed is fast, the device responds quickly to gestures and commands. I have yet to find what I can't do on my Windows laptop other than play games. A game I enjoy playing requires Windows, Mac, or Linux. Since it has an ARM processor, it currently does not support Linux applications. Design: This device is a bright, eye-catching white Chromebook. I find the design pleasing to the eye and feels solid despite being made of plastic. I don't particularly like using it in tablet mode. The screen feels bulky and at times unwieldy in tablet mode. The screen quickly moves to any position to put it in laptop, tent or tablet mode. Personally, I've found that I haven't even used my LG tablet for anything other than when I needed LTE internet while I was away from home. Overall the design is great. Screen/Input: I find the keyboard on par with most laptop keyboards. The keys are a bit shallow and I feel like my typing has slowed down a bit, but not by much. The IPS touchscreen is very responsive and I rarely have to touch the screen more than once for an intended gesture. The screen is bright at home, but feels lacking in more intense lighting conditions, such as outdoors. Ease of use: On the Google Play Store, this thing can do pretty much anything. I haven't tried intensive applications yet. I use Chrome, Netflix, Hulu, Evernote, multiple banking apps, and other apps. Everyone reacts quickly. Banking applications load the same way as in phone mode, so they are in a small window. Applications continue to work as intended. Netflix and Hulu playback is smooth and comfortable to watch on screen. Overall, I'm impressed with Google's operating system and this device in general. If you have doubts about the operating system, I recommend you try it. The battery life is also good. When I use my gaming laptop, the cable is always attached nearby. I also understand that a gaming laptop is much more power hungry. I have yet to use this Chromebook while charging. The battery allowed me to watch Netflix, chat on Facebook and text on the phone for 4-5 hours without once being drained to a critical level. I charge it at night and then turn it on the next night. This is the maximum screen brightness. I was also very surprised by the speakers. The speakers are significantly louder and do not distort. To be honest, I expected them to be cheap netbook quality, which is basically best just never use them, but that's not the case with this Chromebook. I usually use a bluetooth headset. The Bluetooth headset is combined with extreme simplicity. I also set up my brother's wireless laser printer in less than 30 seconds using Google Cloud Printing. Google got it right and Lenovo delivered a solid product. I bought it on sale for $200 but would have spent $300. If you're a web surfer, music listener, or Netflix watcher, I highly recommend this. If you need intensive Windows software, choose Windows. Otherwise, I think you'll end up using it as your primary device like I did.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
