I don't use fabric scissors at home very often. I have no idea what happened to my old ones (probably buried in a closet after moving in last year) so I ordered these. I'm happy with them, especially for a little under $10. I would definitely buy them again. I only intend to keep them for cutting fabrics as I expect them to last longer that way. I don't have to cut 16 layers of denim at once (!), but I was able to cut a layer of denim pretty easily. . I got a straight line and the fabric was not damaged. Their blades are certainly sharp enough for my purposes (but the scissors were in no way dangerous). They are quite large but the product name says 8 1/2 inches so I expected them to be large. I have tiny hands (the size of my gloves would be very small for women) but I've had no problems with them. (However, I don't have arthritis or any medical conditions that would affect my grip.) Thanks to the black part, I can hold them well. (Although I'm left-handed, I've always hated left-handed scissors). Also, as mentioned, I'm a rare home user. For those who sew a lot or professionally, this may not work. But they're great for people like me.
