I bought this adapter to use with an old monitor that only has VGA and DVI connectors. I wanted to be able to use both ports so that two devices - my PC and my work MacBook Pro - were always connected to the monitor without having to unplug cables (I never used my PC and MBP at the same time, so it was fine). that they shared a monitor). Unfortunately, the adapter stopped working after about 3 months of occasional use. It's not an expensive adapter, but when I have to buy a new one every 3 months, the cost quickly outweighs a good adapter or cable. ran some tests on a MacBook Pro with a working HDMI port to see if the adapter was the problem. I tried various HDMI cables that I thought would work with another monitor (with an HDMI connector) and then tried the adapter on another monitor with a VGA connector. There are no dice. This RevainBasics adapter is defective. :'(
