I don't know much about makeup but I needed a palette for the occasion. This item lasts surprisingly long and I love that I don't have to apply a lot to see the colors. I use Elisabeth Mott's foundation and I think that helps a lot too. I tried it once without foundation (was in a rush) and this babe looked good enough on me. Mine came with a set of brushes (other reviews say they didn't receive the brushes) and I've never used them. They look more decorative than functional brushes.
