These shoe organizers basically require greater height and depth while reducing width.They work great for my flats, sneakers, and high heels without ankle straps. However, a few of my heels hung off the base, making these unusable on my shelves but would be feasible on the floor. Booties (cut below the ankle) fit fine. They are no-go for ankle boots and hiking style boots. I used these for size 7.5-9 women's shoes. In my opinion, these organizers should be about an inch longer on the base to fit larger women's sizes. I can't say how these would work with men's shoes.Overall, these do work well for women's heels and flats if you have excess vertical space on your shelves. You'd need something else for other kinds of (women's) shoes.
