It doesn't heat up at all and the rest is only held by screws. So if you move it too often, it will definitely come loose. I tried using it on my wig to get a flat top. I usually use mousse but I don't like it, sometimes it just makes my hair stiff and flaky. This hot comb doesn't get hot even for a wig. I'm straight so I wouldn't even dare try it on my own hair. SMH I've already used it so I probably won't be able to return it. Although it doesn't work. I'm sorry people
