Review on 🐈 Smart Scoop Self-Cleaning Litter Box by Pet Zone - No Expensive Refills, Easy Waste Disposal for Cats, Compatible with Clumping Cat Litter by Whitney Buckley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great, fairly quiet and helps eliminate odors

I bought my first unit about 5 years ago and have tried 2 of them since. I had to change it every few years. All the devices I've bought have had metal gears (some have mentioned devices with a plastic internal gear). I think the main thing I do is overfill the device with junk, which apparently makes it harder to scoop, so I guess if it breaks after a few years, it's my fault. There is a queue in the basket that you need to fill. The two points of failure that both of my devices had are related to the garbage rake. It seems to have bent over time (probably due to a lot of debris, my own fault) causing it to snag on the end of the bin when the rake is lifted out of the bin. If this happens to you, you can fix it by simply removing the rake and hitting the top of the rake attached to the engine with a hammer on the end of the rake that is scratching the bottom of the bin. This fixed it for me. But I think it took me a long time to pin that the engine was damaged to have the power to scoop. Something I can recommend is to take cheap plywood and build a litter box to sit in and then cut out a door about 12 inches high and 6 inches wide. It helps control everything we don't like about the tablets. (litter being thrown out of the box, the smell, the sound of the device includes the litter being twisted by the cat, and the sound of the cat moving the litter seemingly endlessly for HOURS before finally pooping).
