Review on Gilden Non Expansion Extra Long President Style 1536 SL SMART by Scott Vazquez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Better than expected but slightly more expensive

This really is a 3, 5 Star Rating Gilden Non-Expansion Stainless Steel Extra Long Strap for Apple Watch. I was a bit apprehensive at first when it arrived and I saw the no-frills packaging. However, upon opening it, I found that the stainless steel bracelet itself is quite strong and durable. Upon closer inspection, I found that it was really just a standard adjustable strap with Apple Watch adapters on the ends held together with spring bars rather than screws. This makes the Guild watch strap a bit pricey for what it is. However, the easily removable adapters and spring bars allow me to use other 20mm watch bands with these end adapters on my Apple Watch. All I have to do is use a spring bar tool or toothpick to push in and loosen the spring bars. I measured the ends of the adapter to be about 32mm wide. The end of the watch strap is adjustable to approx. 22mm, but fits into the 20mm width of the adapter lugs. The bracelet tapers nicely to 16-17mm at the end of the clasp. The total length of the strap is approximately 7.5 inches. The length can be reduced to approximately 6.75 inches by slightly adjusting the clasp. About an additional inch can be removed by removing the bracelet links. I should point out that the breech has a flip-up safety cover that is quite tight and difficult to open. While there's little chance of my watch falling off with this cover on, I can try to oil it up a bit to avoid breaking a nail when trying to open it. Overall, this Gilden Non-Expansion Extra Long Stainless Steel Strap actually turned out to be better than expected, but still a little pricey considering it's really just a standard strap with Apple Watch adapter ends.

Pros
  • Strap is 19mm (3/4") wide at the ends and tapers to 17mm (5/8") at the clasp
Cons
  • Nothing here
