While it may be tempting to buy a cheaper device, I would recommend reading the reviews (if any). This guy has never let me down. Not only does it look cool, it also serves its purpose. I've used it with Win98 and now WinXP (Pro). It also seems very fast compared to what friends and colleagues have told me how long it takes them to download images. The only alternative I would consider is a USB 2.0 version of the device from the same manufacturer.
