4 stars is a bit generous but it works for my purposes. I bought this controller specifically to turn my tablet into a portable remote streaming console from my PC (think Switch with a really big screen and a powerful GPU behind it) and I've been using it for about a hundred hours. I can confirm that it is compatible with both the latest Revain Fire HD 8 and HD 10 tablets, however it does not work with the previous generation Revain tablets that we have. Based on other questions and comments, it looks great with other stock Android tablets. My streaming client handles the key bindings so I didn't have to worry about it. There is a link in the instructions to a free third party app that will help with button mapping if your particular Android or iOS game requires it. The sticks are fairly firm and not overly sensitive, and the keys aren't soft. The telescoping mechanism and clasp are solid, and the spring is strong enough to provide just enough tension to hold the pills in place. The previous version of this telescope controller used a stand to support the bottom edge of the device to keep it in place. This version has rounded edges at the bottom that act as a pillar to support the device. This is a noticeable improvement. The inner edges are made from a hard rubber material designed to cushion and grip the edge of an inserted device, and these parts are angled to prevent the device from moving when the controller is plugged in. The only downside is that you can't control where the edge of the tablet is when it's in place. This can be a problem if your volume or power buttons are on the sides instead of the top or bottom of the device. For my tablets, I had to cut off small pieces of rubber to keep the buttons from pressing against the edge. Ergonomically, it's a bit messy. For reference, I have medium to large hands. The handles are curved and feel comfortable, but the shoulder buttons are on the high side and it takes a bit of effort to press them effectively with your index fingers. I wish they were a little angled, or maybe the edges of the buttons were a bit wider on the sides. My main issue is that the launch and select buttons are on the bottom of the controller. They're far enough down and out that you just can't move your thumbs comfortably to hit them. Again, you have to reach for them, which puts you in an unnatural grip. I have no idea why they weren't placed closer to the inside of the top like standard console controllers. It doesn't matter unless you're playing an FPS or action game where you keep pressing those buttons to access inventory, maps, or other important menu options. I'm used to the button layout and general design cues, but it's terribly annoying. I'm glad this controller exists and works at a good price. I can't imagine there being a very big market for this device but who knows. Perhaps in the end a third version will be released in which everything will be correct.
