I chose a green color that I would call Mint Sea. The magnet on the back is strong. If it's stuck to something like a refrigerator, you'll have to pull hard to remove it. This is good for me because it doesn't fall off and I can rotate the dial without removing it from its mount. The tone is "brrrnn," like an old-fashioned rotary phone. The notification takes about 4 seconds. I noticed that the volume changes depending on the position of the timer. For me, the noise is loudest when I have it attached to the fridge. If there isn't a lot of background noise, I can easily hear it in the next room. I had no problems with this timer. I follow the instructions to set it up (set the timer to zero, turn the timer clockwise to 55, turn it counterclockwise back to the time you want to set) and it works great.
