This is my favorite book on embroidery. The images are ok, not great, but the variety of stitches just can't help but beat. A less fluffy yarn would show the stitches more clearly. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The book is very well organized by stitch type (shells, pom-poms, etc.). A relatively minor complaint: some of the stitches are known and have common names, but the names aren't used here, so there's no other way to find them than by scrolling through the relevant section. Now for the general rant: every crochet book I've ever seen has one major flaw: they tell you how to make each stitch in even rows. No information is ever given about working in rounds or increasing or decreasing. There are also no recommendations for weight. It would be nice if it said that a particular stitch works best with thin yarn or thread, or that it can be made with heavier yarn. Any of this information would be very helpful, but nobody ever does. I do not know why.
