USB hubs are used to consolidate device connections, expand or mirror displays. No driver is required. It connected right away after I plugged in all my USB devices and video jacks. I can think of the following uses for this tool. Use Case 1. If you have a laptop and want to close the lid to extend the display to an external monitor, this is for you. Use Case 2: If you have a laptop and want the lid to open to extend the display to an external monitor, this is for you. Use Case 3: If you have a PC and connect to a single monitor, this is for you. Use Case 4: If you have a laptop or PC and want to extend your displays to two additional external monitors, then this is NOT for you. The manual says the HDMI and VGA ports CANNOT be used or connected at the same time. The product description says "If HDMI and VGA work at the same time...". After testing, I found that the VGA and HDMI connections actually work simultaneously, but ONLY in mirror mode. You cannot expand to 2 external monitors. I think most people like me just want monitors to be extended and not mirrored IF you have 2 external monitors. Even if your use case falls in case 1-3, it will work fine. I took off 1 star because of a small inaccuracy in the description.
