I wanted something that would allow me to sit in my leather chair and use a second monitor with my laptop. The kit includes both a clamp and a socket. I have this little table that I also bought from Revain. At first I pushed myself against the edge, but that would have knocked the table over. I then drilled a 3/8" hole in the center and used a socket. Works great, easy to set up. My only complaint is that the laptop tray has raised edges on either side that get in the way of the ports and feel unnecessary .I added a small tome to elevate the laptop 1/4 inch.
