Very portable but cannot read mini CD

External USB 3.0 Type C DVD CD Drive CD/DVD +/-RW DVD/CD-ROM Drive Disc Writer High Speed Data Transfer for MacBook Windows 7/8/10 PC Notebook Desktop Computer The drive comes in a Shipping carton supplied with a zip that you see in the photo in the ad. Here it is, the packaging. I know there are people who will yell that this is wasteful, but I would like something like this to come in a sealed bag to protect it during shipping and storage. What I mean is a two head zipper so you can open it quickly and an external patch pocket on one side. Opening the case reveals the external drive itself and a small folded business card-sized manual. While there was a pocket on the external drive inside the ziplock case, I still stand by my previous statement. The drive has a few features that I like. The cable folds into a shaped storage area on the bottom of the drive so it lies flat and neatly in the holder when stowed. The USB cable has two heads, USB 3 male and USB CY male. The entire cable is only about 11 inches long. A short cable has both good and bad qualities: Due to a short cable, you don't have many messy cables when you connect it to your laptop to tug on it or accidentally tug. The downside is that if you need to use this for a desktop PC without an optical drive, a short cable might not be enough. and Chinese. Most of the instructions seem to relate to everyday use of the device, which is what you would expect. In addition to the usual warnings and cautions, they have a special note that the mentioned dust will damage the optical octave device, so do not use the optical drive in a dusty place. Comes without any protection, just in a zip sleeve. Luckily for me it got home undamaged. In terms of use, the drive seems to work like a normal CD, but I had an issue with it. I had to install the driver that came with the mini CD. That in itself was unusual because there aren't that many minidiscs around now. Maybe the manufacturer of this device didn't expect that because they didn't want to read the mini-CD. It read full-size CDs and DVDs with no problems. I thought it might be the mini CD itself, but I was able to read it on a desktop PC that has an internal CD reader. So remember - your mileage may vary.
