Also the thermal paste that comes with this thing is terrible but I think I should have expected

The way you need to install this heatsink is counterintuitive and thermal paste will be smeared all over the place during installation because you need to install it upside down. Also, the thermal paste that comes with this thing is terrible, but I guess I should have expected that. There aren't many other low-profile CPU fans to choose from.
