Review on πŸ’§ Contact Lens Travel Case with Contact Solution by Danny Trapanese

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good idea, bad production

I first noticed this product because I liked the idea of having a contact container that can hold enough solution. This reservoir holds 2.75 ounces of solution and refills the contact memory block by squeezing on the thinner part of the plastic. Some other reviews said this case was leaked but I decided to give it a try. Well, I just put it in, filled it with water to check for leaks. There is no point in using the solution, it can get expensive. I leave it in a horizontal position for about 10 minutes and then in an upright position for 10 minutes. It leaks quite a bit and is brand new. Surprisingly, it doesn't leak from the contacts storage area like I thought it would. The problem lies in the production process. It consists of separate plastic parts that appear to be pressed together by heat. The seam of the plastic halves is not very good as I found a pin hole along the seam. Only one at the moment, but this hole could empty the container in no time. I found I was losing about 2ml of fluid in 20 minutes. I figured I could fix that with waterproof acrylic glue. I smeared a little where I found the hole, let it dry, and there was no more leak. Cheap, easy repair. I enjoy this business. It's a great concept and if I felt a little more confident in the quality I wouldn't be worried about traveling with it. Until I gave another leak. I think the price is a bit high for something like this. I would expect to find this in a dollar store. In addition, the case is larger than it appears. It measures 5 inches long, 2 3/4 inches wide and 1 inch high when laid flat. I wouldn't recommend it, but I like it now that it's fixed. Take a look around. There are other similar cases. One of them is called the 3-in-1 contact case. I haven't received mine yet, but I have high hopes for it.

Pros
  • Sealed solid construction with fixed left and right lens caps
Cons
  • High price
