That's a bit small for this age group. My girl is 6 years old and is at the bottom of the growth chart for her age, she is perfect now. It will not suit the average American 7 year old. I saw it in reviews and expected it to be smaller as it is small and works for us. The helmet is easy to assemble once you understand that the round pieces with the notches on the ears are also "tongues" and need to be aligned like the rest of the jagged protrusions. The visor has a notch so it raises with a click, not too much, she can do it herself after a few tries. We love it!
