Review on Hadley Horns H00977N Twin Rectangular by Richard Muncy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Why honk when you can honk?

This is a great horn system. I wanted to replace the inefficient stock horn in my beloved 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser with something a little more assertive, but without stepping into ear-damaging impracticality (and probably widespread illegality, too), as I could with a great-sounding but dangerously loud horn on the Nathan K5LLA -Train that I noticed with one eye. I was thinking of a set of real heavy truck horns as they are quite effective but legal for street use in most places to my knowledge so I did a search and found Hadley's commercial horns. I love that these horns not only sound like trailer horns, but are actually the same horns you see on truck roofs across the country and possibly the world. That means they're built to last and you already know exactly how they sound. It's a big, attention-grabbing sound, but with a depth and smoothness that doesn't allow it to be as obnoxious as many smaller horns. I was surprised how easy they are to use; My installer included a toggle switch so I can toggle between the standard beep and my Hadleys if needed, but turns out I never use that switch - I just let it beep all the time and when I want quiet , a short press on the horn button is enough. The system itself is well made enough to give year after year reliable service in the harsh conditions regularly encountered in commercial settings, and a good installer can quite elegantly place most or all of the components under the hood, as I did was the case. This kit, H00977N, is a 2 tone 2 tone system with a 26" and a 29" horn which is large by car standards so make sure you have space for it somewhere ( mine are installed out of sight under the truck). , just in front of the rear bumper). The kit is solenoid activated so you don't need an air valve or sling in the cab. The system plugs directly into your stock horn button (a valve activated version is also available) and the supercharger is fairly quiet, although I think I'll put a rubber grommet somewhere between the supercharger and the body it's mounted on. to further reduce noise and vibration. All in all a high quality product that works great; worth every penny.
