The new bin feels larger than the original 500 series bin. The filter is definitely larger and the filter holder is more durable than the thin and thin design of the original bin 500 Series The downside to this last design, however, is the lid. The original lid can be removed when emptying the bin. This new design does not allow deletion. This means when I open the bin to remove dirt and dust and also to clean the inside, the lid gets in the way and I'm always afraid that I might accidentally rip it off. While the lid in the original design has supports on both long sides, the lid in the new design only supports one long side. If you snap it into place after cleaning, you may put too much pressure on the unsupported side and damage/tear off the cover. It also doesn't snap and "snap" as easily as the original. If there is a 3rd iteration I want this deficiency fixed!
