Works great with my 2017 MacBook Air and you don't need a boot disk. I was able to install High Sierra directly onto the SSD over the internet. I have a Samsung 870 Evo 1 terabyte. Works great, no sleep or hibernation issues as some people have mentioned. Just take out the old crappy SSD and plug the new SSD into this adapter before wirelessly connecting it to the motherboard, then power it on and it will recover from the internet. Once that's all done, you'll have 5x or 10x more storage space, depending on which SSD you buy. I recommend the Samsung SSD as it is the original SSD in the 2017 MacBook Air but with a smaller capacity.
