Perfect fit for 2005 Silverado 1500 work truck with Original Equipment spare wheel and steel rim. The winch has correctly hooked the steel wheel and is holding the tire without going beyond the red mark. Other reviewers have encountered issues where the adapter was too small for their wheel center hole and had to tighten the winch past the red mark to hold the tire in place, but that wasn't my experience. I venture to guess that this is due to differences in spare tires. My work truck model has 17 inch steel wheels and I've had no problems. Based on other reviews I would be suspicious of properly fitting aftermarket/aluminum wheels. only half a ton. As other reviews have also noted, the finish on this device is poor at best. It is necessary to treat this winch with some form of rust preventative or you may be left without a spare tire without a safety latch. However, the lack of a safety latch is an advantage in this case, as a freezing safety latch is one of the main failure points of an OEM unit. All in all I would definitely buy this winch again. It took longer to remove a very poorly constructed factory unit than it did for the paint to dry on it and be ready for installation.
