Children's shoes were at a much better price. I wear a 7 for adults so I usually wear a 5 for kids. These were sold out. I bought the 4.5 wide side hoping it would make up half the size difference and they were perfect. One of the shoes was rubbing against my ankle and I didn't know if I could wear them any longer, but after the third time they had worn enough and felt good. Also, the ankle that the shoe rubbed on was previously broken, so the initial discomfort was probably ankle + hard shoe related.
