I use this for mechanic work, and it has exceeded expectations.Pro's:Beam pattern is a very wide and even flood light. Perfect for illuminating everything in your field of vision while working under a car. User interface is straightforward and easy. The dimmable feature is outstanding to dial up enough light to see, but not so much that it glares back and blinds you (when you're under the car and things are right in front of your face). It has been through several drops and been getting covered in oil and grime and held up just fine. Build quality is great, threads are smooth, sturdy aluminum body. Silicone pivot is a great feature that should be impossible to break. The pivot has worked well even when the light is dusty or oily or grimy. No battery pack on the back also makes it easier to slide into tight spots under cars on your back, and the elastic of the headband has held up to weekend shadetree mechanic use for a year so far with no signs of elastic wearing out. I consider this a great bang for the buck for close up hands free flood lighting, and have already bought several more as gifts.Cons:The TH20 is optimized for all flood beam, so it does not throw a spotlight a long distance. it's perfect as is for close up work, but the beam pattern would not serve you as well if you were using it to find a trail in the dark. I have a Fenix headlamp HL50 that the beam is a more versatile beam pattern with somewhat of a hotspot in the middle and less flood but it runs about twenty bucks more than the TH20. I would consider that light a more universal beam pattern with a mix of spotlight in the middle and a little flood light around the edges, but for very close up work on cars the hotspot can glare uncomfortably and the TH20 wide flood beam is preferred. I only consider this a CON if you are expecting to use this headlamp for more than close up flood work like setting up camp or fixing cars. Don't expect to find a lost dog on the other end of a field with it. Even though it's very bright, it spreads out the light in a wide beam, and does not throw a focused spot far away. Very few headlamps have deep enough reflectors to throw a spotlight across an open field anyway, and headlamps are most useful for close up hands free work, so just know what you want and get the right tool for the job. Highly recommended for its intended purpose.
