I've had the katana for a few weeks now and I've had the opportunity to shoot it. I was apprehensive about purchasing this product because the reviews went from one extreme to the other. I will give as many details as possible and point out what was important to me. 1. Note that this is a tray. There are no mechanical or electrical parts. The purpose of the katana is to use the DJI Mavic Pro gimbal and camera. This allows you to shoot in no-fly zones and capture shots the Mavic can't take in flight. It's also great for expansive scenes and follow-up shots. You can also use it indoors without worrying about the airflow crashing off the propellers while still maintaining full control. You have to pay attention to how the gimbal works on the Mavic. You cannot use the intelligent flight modes as the Mavic must be in flight to do so. I tried and Mavic knew better. You can adjust the tilt on the screen, but it's not a smooth transition, it's kind of a jerky step-by-step motion, like zooming in or out. The tray makes it very convenient to maneuver the Mavic as if it were a steadicam. The grip is well shaped and feels great when filming. There are even flattened surfaces on the handles so you can place your thumbs on them however you like. The material is plastic and rubber. Perfect for what it is. Others have stated that it is cheap but very durable. The parts have to flex a bit to fit the Mavic and "lock" it firmly and securely in place. Any metal can damage your Mavic. There are 4 moving parts. Phone clip, screw to tighten the phone clip and 2 screws to attach the bottom frame to the top handles. Instructions are included with pictures and they are very clear. If this still confuses you, there is a video on the PolarPro website. Management and footage turned out great! While this credit is mostly due to the Mavic's gimbal and my creative mindset, the well-formed shooting grip helped a lot. The katana allows me to easily maneuver the Mavic to get those shots comfortably, and it looks more like a camera. Not to mention the possibility of moving from room to room or vice versa with the same camera. The assembly and disassembly is very quick, after all only the propellers have to be removed and 3 screws adjusted. It doesn't take up space in my bag as I attach it to the loop on the outside (see photo). I had no loose or loose parts. I had no concerns about my Mavic falling out. I can rotate it quite a bit and everything stays in place as it should. Tips based on other reviews: If your phone shakes, make sure you squeeze the clamps around the phone when you snap it into place. Read the instructions. before use. Know how the parts work. If your phone is not level, fully tighten the phone clamp screw, fully tighten the phone clamp screw, rotate back to the center, counterclockwise rotate the phone clamp screw to tighten to lock and lock. on site. Conclusion: I really like this product and would recommend it to everyone! Does it cost $50? Well, in my opinion yes, considering the Mavic cost $1,000.
